Let the Rains Begin!

We have seen more rain here than probably our whole lives.  It has been raining everyday with almost 100% humidity in the air.  We are realizing that this is a more difficult season because we just endured the hot season.  We are thankful for clouds to give us a little relief from the heat.  We are doing well.  Soon, both our children's birthdays will happen.  Sam turns 3 next month and Aly 1.  After hosting a big bash last month, we are not feeling up for another one yet.  The 1 year old birthday here is very important, but we think we may keep it low key and order some cupcakes.  Aly has been standing on her own these days and is quickly changing from a baby.  Our kids take so much energy everyday.  We love them, but are thankful for a couple meals away from them this month.  We haven't had many breaks the past 8 months, but we are thankful for them and enjoy time with them.

After writing about challenges with language helpers, we are finally into a good rhythm.  Please pray for my language helper.  She may get a job at our school, but then this could mean she can't be my tutor anymore.  Please pray that all the details work out.  I really enjoy seeing her each day and talking with her.  I hope that this relationship can continue.  We are realizing that learning language is like a huge marathon.  We're definitely in the middle miles where is feels much more grueling.  Please pray that we endure and press on.  We have functional speaking abilities, but we want to push much farther.

We feel pretty normal living here these days.  After a couple of months of culture stress, we are feeling a little less intense emotions.  Pray for our health.  With the rainy season brings skin infections and itchy rashes.  We are thankful that the Lord has sustained thus and we know he will continue to do just so.  We are looking forward to seeing both of our parents this fall...our first visitors.
