Definition of an Active Child

It has been quite the week. Sam does not just "go down for a nap"...there must be nursing, rocking, singing, and sometimes extreme bouncing. We had a rough day/night yesterday. He didn't want to nap long...and that always turns into him being overtired by the end of the day. Last night he only went in 2 hour stretches...ouch. I hope this isn't a pattern. He had been doing so well before that.

Other than that :), we're doing well. It's Chris' last day at RR Donnelly. That will give him about 20 hours more a week for Sam time, family time, and simply resting. He's been exhausted. It's sad to see him leave the relationships there, but the time has come. I didn't realize how much I would need him at home. I'm exhausted by the end of the day. 3 12 hour shifts in the ER do not sound so bad anymore. God's teaching me to focus on one thing and not be so distracted. Someone said they had ADD of the soul...I think that's my diagnosis the past few years. Time to sit, be still, and learn to rest and reflect again.

The definition of Sam:

You can usually tell if your baby is going to be an over-active one straight from the Uterus. And those suspicions will soon be confirmed once you see that diaper changes become wrestling matches, the baby is all over the crib throughout a nap, or when coverings are kicked off.

Active babies are healthy but can also prove to be a challenge. This hyperactivity can negatively interfere with your baby's sleeping and eating habits as well. Although you do not want to hinder their growth, curiosity, and enthusiasm, when they are this active, you will want to learn ways to keep them safe and sound in and outside of the crib.
